Joy Belongs in What We Make

I often create simply because making something brings me joy. These works come from everyday moments, humor, imagination, and things I find interesting or funny. Through color, character, and playful ideas, I like turning ordinary experiences into something more personal and unexpected.

Joy in Color

I used bright, unexpected colors instead of realistic ones to capture the energy of the expression. I wanted the portrait to feel joyful, playful, and full of personality.

Late night Studio

I painted myself assembling a 3D printer late at night, surrounded by tools, parts, and unfinished ideas. I wanted to capture the excitement of being completely absorbed in making—busy and a little chaotic, but still focused and purposeful.

What My Pet Does When We’re Not Home

I imagined what my pet might do when no one is home: climb onto my chair, open my laptop, and start playing Roblox. I liked turning an ordinary room into a small, funny story about the secret life pets might have when we aren’t looking.

Illustrating “Clumsy”

After writing Clumsy, I created the illustrations for the story myself. I used dramatic nighttime scenes, funny accidents, and comic-style action to turn the characters and moments I imagined into pictures. It was one of my first experiences combining storytelling and art.

Brotherhood

This painting captures an ordinary weekend afternoon when my brothers and I tried a new 3D printing pen together. As we sketched, experimented, and shared ideas, the moment became more than just play—it became a memory of curiosity, creativity, and brotherhood.

The Perfect Imperfection

A failed 3D print became a toothpick holder after my grandpa found a new use for it. When I later printed a “perfect” version that simply sat on the shelf, I began to wonder what perfection really means. To me, value can come from usefulness, meaning, and even imperfection.

Van Gogh Bear

One of my fluid-art bears accidentally lost an ear, and at first I thought the piece was ruined. Then Van Gogh came to mind, so I wrapped the broken ear with gauze and turned the accident into part of the design. To my surprise, people were drawn to the “injured” bear, and it was the first one to sell at a school fair.

Light of Home

Inspired by the warm light shining through my home at night, I designed and 3D-printed a model of the house and added lights inside. I wanted to capture the quiet feeling of warmth, familiarity, and belonging that makes a place feel like home.

Joy Is Part of the Process

Some ideas begin with curiosity, some with humor, and some simply because they are fun to make. I hope I never lose that part of creating.
